Precipitated Calcium Carbonate for TiO2 Extension
Precipitated Calcium Carbonate for TiO2 Extension
Specialty Minerals Inc. precipitated calcium carbonate powders can reduce the required loading of more costly titanium dioxide (TiO2) while maintaining opacity, gloss and brightness. The products offer precisely controlled particle size, with narrow distribution and excellent brightness, making them especially useful in extending TiO2 in architectural paint formulations both above and below the critical Pigment Volume Concentration (cPVC). Replacement of 10% of current TiO2 with an equal quantity of these products is recommended as a starting point for formulation.
ALBAFIL® T10 PCC is recommended as a TiO2 extender in formulations at or below cPVC.
ALBACAR® T10 PCC is recommended at or above cPVC, providing excellent light scattering due to the unique rosette particle shape.
