ASP 172
ASP 172
ASP® 172 kaolin is made by BASF’s Ultra-flotation* process to provide a very fine particle-size grade of aluminum silicate, featuring premium brightness. It is available as either spray-dried beads or in slurry form. ASP 172 kaolin is chemically inert and has been specially modified with dispersants for ease of dispersion. It is designed for use in water-borne coatings. The fine particle size makes it an excellent TiO2 extender.
Typical applications include water-borne gloss, semi-gloss coatings, roof coatings, and textile coatings.

Optimize your formula costs: SAVE on TiO2 while Keeping Performance
Our Chemists in the Azelis Application labs, took on the challenge to find how much TiO2 we could replace with cost-effective ASP 172 Kaolin in an elastomeric roof coating formulation without affecting performance.
The result? Our Azelis chemists created a formula that replaced a significant amount of TiO2 and still achieved the desired performance including ASTM testing protocol for elastomeric roof coatings!
